"Go Green" Tax-Free Holiday
Every October, Retail Alliance® helps expand marketing opportunities for retailers selling all types of “green” products.
The Energy Star Sales Tax Holiday was created to encourage individuals to purchase Energy Star items, which will conserve energy and reduce consumers’ long-term energy cost. This exemption will apply on a per item basis to “Energy Star Qualified Products.”
All retailers can participate in this exciting “Go-Green” Sales Tax Holiday. The benefits of being Retail Alliance® members for this holiday include:

Holiday Window Contest
Retail Alliance® members will have the opportunity to participate in our annual Holiday Window Contest.
Participating retailers will be judged on adherence to theme, animation, lighting, use of color creativity, signage, and more. Winners will be identified throughout the region and awarded cash prizes. A “people’s choice” award will be based on penny contributions dedicated to charity.
Legislative Lunch & Learn
Retail Alliance® offers its members a landmark opportunity tohear a national business expert, while lunching with the General Assembly candidate who represents your business or home. Retail Alliance® members have one-on-one time to learn your candidate’s positions on key issues.
Loss Prevention Conference
Every merchant at one time or another has experienced “shrinkage”; defined as the loss of merchandise through employee theft, shoplifting, vendor fraud and administrative error. How much loss can be modified by retailers who are informed and prepared?
The Retail Alliance® Virginia Retail Loss Prevention Conference is the largest and most comprehensive event of its kind in the Mid-Atlantic states. Attendees learn from law enforcement professionals, loss prevention specialists and other retailers. More than three dozen vendors are on site to provide information about products designed to reduce merchandise losses.

Retailer of the Year
The Retail Alliance® Retailer of the Year Award recognizes a retail leader who has led their company to outstanding business success and innovation and who has consistently demonstrated community commitment and support. The Retailer of the Year has exceptional leadership within the corporation, in the retail industry in Virginia and in the community at large, through personal and/or corporate philanthropic activities. The Retailer of the Year is widely respected throughout the industry for their achievements and the corporation represented must be seen as a leader in the business community.
